>>Ornish Diet
The Ornish Diet is one prescribed for vegetarians so unlike Atkins or the Zone, most protein here will be fromvegetables. Dr. Dean Ornish, M.D. popularized this diet telling people they can eat more and weigh less. This is a very restrictive diet since there are a lot of foods that are not recommended for consumption to achieve your goal. Unlike Atkins or Sears’ it doesn’t only help us reduce weight but it reduces bad cholesterol which causes harm to our cardiovascular system.
>>Atkins Diet
Probably the most popular of all high protein diets, Atkins is a low carbohydrates diet created by Robert Atkins during the 70’s. Dr Atkins Diet is probably the father of all high protein diets. Atkins believed that the main cause of obesity is eating refined carbohydrates, particularly sugar, flour, and high-fructose corn syrup. When you digest carbohydrates, they get convert to glucose (sugar)that is transported throughout your body through the bloodstream. Carbs is the primary fuel source of the human body and unlike fats, the body can only store so much sugar so when carbs get converted to sugar, the body burns and uses it for energy first that fats.
>>Zone Diet
A study made by the documentary show Scientific American Frontiers showed that people find the Zone Diet the easiest way to follow. This is because no one needs to cut off on any type of food that we’re already accustomed to eating. What needs to be done is to make sure we get a balanced ratio of carbohydrates, protein and fats from the food we consume. This means we lose weight but actually get to eat the food that we want to. The Zone Diet can mean being on a low-carb diet but unlike Atkins, the protein does not dominate your carbohydrate (or any other nutrient) consumption.
>>Stillman Diet
The Stillman Diet. This was created and named after Dr. Irwin Maxwell Stillman, M.D. in 1967 and was also known as The Doctor's Quick Weight Loss Diet. A lot of his patients during his years of practice are overweight and obese and with careful analysis and experimentation, he realized that a high-protein diet is the easiest way to gain weight control. This type of diet is considered as one of the fastest way to lose weight.
>>Protein Power Diet
The Protein Power Diet was written by a married couple of MDs, Michael R. and Mary Dan Eades. This is a product of years of study and extensive research. This diet has e bit of edge on it because of the previous diets that were popularized before. You can say that it’s a cross between the Atkins diet and the Sears, Zone diet. The concept is the same as Atkins diet in a way that you will need to cut down on the carbs and stock up on protein to jump start the diet and then eventually re-introduce good carbs back into your diet but still maintaining your weight if not losing more. It is also like the Zone diet because it does not make you eliminate carbs from your diet, instead, trying to balance it with the protein intake.
